Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Internal Audit Officer to join our team in a downstream oil and gas firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting audits of the company’s financial, operational and compliance activities to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulations. The Internal Audit Officer will work closely with various departments to identify areas of risk, develop appropriate audit plans and recommendations, and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular audits of the company’s financial, operational and compliance activities
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas of risk
- Develop and maintain audit plans and programs to ensure all areas of the organization are covered
- Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting findings and recommendations for improvement
- Monitor implementation of corrective actions and report on progress
- Work collaboratively with various departments to promote a culture of compliance and risk management
- Provide guidance and support to management on internal control issues and best practices
- Stay up-to-date on changes to laws and regulations affecting the company’s operations
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in internal audit or related field, preferably in the oil and gas industry
- Strong understanding of audit methodologies, principles, and practices
- Knowledge of oil and gas industry regulations and standards
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is an added advantage.
Working Conditions:
The Internal Audit Officer will work in a typical office environment and may occasionally be required to travel to other company locations. The position may require some extended work hours during peak audit periods.
