In addition to this, there has been a high exponential suicide rate among youths in Nigeria, and, in a report by the World Health Organization, Nigeria was said to be the country with the highest suicide rate in Africa.
Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and every other mental health challenge aren’t restricted to age, social status, religious affinity, etc.
In this blog, I have highlighted ways in which you can stay mentally healthy as you make plans for graduate school.
1. Set small goals for yourself. While it is undoubtedly true that setting small goals is the best strategy for reaching huge milestones, short-term goals, on the other hand, allow you to focus on one thing at a time, which makes it easier for you to concentrate on the current activity. You will be able to fulfill your goals on time and move on to the next one for the day. Your productivity is boosted in this way.

2. Join a community of like-minded people

For your graduate school plans, joining a community of people headed in the same direction as you is one of the best ways to go about it.There are people who have experienced and overcome your current difficulties and who can help you. You don’t have to carry the weight of the world alone. The careeredu telegram group is a great place to start.

3. Exercise and do something fun.

It is often said that a healthy mind is a healthy body, and likewise, a healthy body is a healthy mind.

Most of the time, after working on your graduate school applications, there’s this feeling of helplessness and stress you’re faced with, and sometimes, after a bout of rejections, you have this feeling of hopelessness.

However, when you exercise, you ease off stress and undue tension. Whenever you need an emotional boost after a long day, a few physical activities can help. When you engage in physical activities, your brain is that your brain release chemicals that make you feel happier, more relaxed, and less stressed.

4. Eat well.

When you’re working on your graduate or Japa plans, most of the time, you might consciously or unconsciously find out that you’re skipping meals. However, this does more harm than good because a good diet has a lot to do with mental health wellness. In order to maintain a healthy mind, there’s a need for you to invest in your nutrition and take your diet seriously.

5. Focus on your goals.

Know that you have come too far to stop, and regardless of the rejections you get, keep at it and keep going. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel. You might not always hit the target on your first attempt, and you might not hit it on your third attempt either. Just keep going; you have all it takes to win.
