The Joel Hale Moore Scholarship

The Joel Hale Moore Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 for the Department of Justice and Criminology by Mr. William Fred Moore in honor of his older brother, Joel Hale Moore, a dedicated businessman and educator who earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State.


Eligibility
Either:

incoming freshman majoring in criminal justice and criminology with an academic index of 3.0 or higher
transfer student majoring in criminal justice and criminology with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and who also scores a minimum of 1500 on the SAT
The scholarship is renewable for three years provided the student continues to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Application
There is not an application specific to this scholarship. Instead, the university identifies a pool of eligible candidates based on the information provided on a student’s application for admission to Ball State University. The information provided on the student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is also taken into consideration. Preference will be given to students with financial need; however, other qualified students will be eligible for the award.
