Scholarship Overview
The University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) International Merit Student Scholarship is a scholarship program for international students who demonstrate academic excellence and strong academic potential. The scholarship is based on academic merit and may cover some or all of the recipient’s tuition and fees. All international students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at UHV are eligible for the scholarship. The number of scholarship awards may vary from year to year, and recipients may be required to maintain a certain GPA in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
International Students can apply for the University of Houston USA International Merit Student Scholarship 2023. The scholarship covers Bachelor’s and Master’s level programs at the University of Houston in the field of All Subjects taught. The scholarship deadline is June 15, 2023.

Scholarship value
The International Merit Scholarship is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. The scholarship can reduce the total cost of attendance by $3000-$10,000. (two semesters). The scholarship will reflect the residency tuition rate for international students on F-1 and J-1 visas. The scholarship only covers tuition and fees. This scholarship does not cover any other expenses, such as housing, meals, transportation, personal expenses, books, supplies, or health insurance. The scholarship award is only valid for studies at UHV. Fall recipients are eligible for awards and waivers for the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Full-time undergraduate and graduate studies at UHV. This award includes a $1000 guaranteed scholarship for on-campus students.
Eligibility
Eligible candidates must meet the following:
Must have gotten admission
At the time of the award, the student must be enrolled in at least 12 credits at UHV for undergraduate students and 9 credits for graduate students.
To graduate, returning/current students must have two semesters remaining (semester receiving the scholarship cannot be the final semester)
Returning/current students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher for undergraduates and 3.0 or higher for graduate students.
Volunteer opportunities must be approved ahead of time. All spring scholarship recipients must reapply for the fall merit scholarship before the deadline if applicable (see below).
F-1 and J-1 students must be on the relevant visa status on or before the state date of their immigration document if they are international students or students on other non-immigrant visa status.
F-1 and J-1 students are required to attend International Student Orientation in either Victoria or Katy.
All non-immigrant students must have good academic and immigration records.
Application instructions
You must complete both steps 1 and 2.
To begin, fill out the online UHV General Scholarship Application. (When you finish this application, it may say that the deadline has passed. Don’t worry about it; just keep working on the application. Regardless of the deadline, you should complete the application).
Enter your UHV username and password to log in.
Second, apply for an International Student Merit Scholarship. Please keep in mind that you will need to attach the required application requirements. When you hit submit, the application and any uploaded attachments are automatically sent to the International Programs Office.
