About the role

An opportunity has arisen at London Road, Harston.

London Road is a Shared and Long Term home for Children and Young People aged 8 to 18 who have a learning or physical disability and or additional health or behavioural needs.

We provide overnight shared and long term care for Children and Young People, in a safe and supportive environment whilst providing a wide variety of stimulating activities and experiences – this includes activities outside of the homes such as the Cinema, Climbing Walls, Bowling, Seaside trips as well as a wide variety of in house activities.

an Apprenticeship as a Level 4 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care
A comprehensive induction covering your basic training and continued professional development.
Regular supervision to guide and support you with your career progression within Social Care.
a Minimum of 25 days annual leave entitlement, which increases with your length of service.

The advertised salary ranges, include added hourly rate enhancements for working weekends.

Schedule:

8 hour shift

What will you be doing?
By being a senior member of the team – guiding & supporting others as well as Shift Leading
By being the allocated Key Worker for a number of Children and Young People – being responsible for completing and updating Care Plans, Risk Assessments, Impact Assessments among other documents
Liaising with Parents, Managers in the home, and Professionals outside of the home to ensure a consistent level of care to the Young Person
By communicating, engaging, encouraging, and supporting young people to take part in local activities and events to develop social and independence skills.
Promoting a safe environment, where Young People can thrive and try out new experiences and have fun.
Advocating on behalf of the Children and Young People.
Supporting Young People to achieve positive outcomes.
Ability to plan and organise your day.
An understanding of technology such as Tablet Computers, Games Consoles etc which Young People use to aid their communication or express their needs.
The ability to communicate appropriately with Children, Young People, their Families and to colleagues within the Home and the wider Council and to external agencies (such as Social Workers, Teachers etc).
Recording observations and undertake administrative processes as needed.
By having basic knowledge of IT packages such as Word, Excel & Outlook.
