British Council Scholarships

Levels: Masters
Scholarship Overview

Are you a STEM-trained woman who is enthusiastic about your field of study? A top UK university may offer you a scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in a program in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. The British Council has started a scholarship program for women from the Americas, South Asia, South East Asia, Egypt, Turkey, and Ukraine for the second year in a row in collaboration with 26 UK universities. We’re looking for women with STEM backgrounds who can prove they require financial assistance and who want to encourage younger generations of women to pursue STEM careers.

The goal of this scholarship initiative is to give more women and girls opportunities in STEM fields. Less than 30% of researchers globally are women, and just 30% of female college students choose STEM-related disciplines, according to data from the UN Scientific Education and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
In the fields of engineering, manufacturing, and construction (three percent), natural science, mathematics, and statistics (five percent), and information and communications technology (three percent), female enrollment is especially low (eight per cent).
