Description
The University of Plymouth invites applications for a 3.5-year EPSRC funded PhD studentship, starting on 1st October 2024. The project, BioMarkML, focuses on utilizing machine learning techniques for early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease using multiplexed graphene sensors. Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) accounts for 60% of global dementias, costing healthcare systems significantly. This project leverages machine learning to classify protein AD biomarkers using advanced graphene sensors, aiming to enable early diagnosis and preventive therapeutic strategies.
Study Area: The research spans artificial intelligence, machine learning, biochemistry/biophysics, electronics, and sensor fabrication, offering a multidisciplinary approach.
Eligibility
Applicants from AI, computer science, biochemistry, electronics, or physics backgrounds are encouraged. A first or upper second-class honors degree (or equivalent) is required, preferably with a relevant Master’s qualification. Both UK and overseas students are welcome to apply.
Documents
Applicants must upload relevant documents, including a personal statement clearly stating the studentship name at the top.
