Description
The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of SCIENCE at the University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a fully-funded PhD fellowship in the field of non-equilibrium assemblies of biomolecules. The project is part of the initiative “Recreating dynamic behaviors of life through systems chemistry,” funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
The PhD project focuses on utilizing activation/deactivation reaction cycles to create non-equilibrium assemblies of lipids, peptides, and oligonucleotides. The candidate will construct chemically fueled non-equilibrium assemblies, analyze compositional changes with HPLC-MS, and collaborate with computational chemistry researchers to build kinetic models. The position includes both research and teaching responsibilities.
Eligibility:
Candidates should hold a degree equivalent to a Danish master’s degree (180 ECTS/3 FTE BSc + 120 ECTS/2 FTE MSc) in a relevant field such as chemistry. Applicants with a background in organic synthesis, chemical modification of small biomolecules, or the construction/characterization of biomolecular assemblies are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential, and experience in nucleic acid chemistry or HPLC-MS techniques is advantageous.
