Chet Riggins and the Department of African American Studies established a scholarship in the memory of the late Charlene Riggins.

Professor Riggins was a historian whose research specialized in oral, community, and women’s history.

She was a dedicated scholar and mentor in the African American Studies department for 15 years.

The Charlene Riggins Scholarship is awarded to students whose research focuses on history, race, and gender.
