Aarhus University, Denmark, invites applications for a PhD fellowship in Distributed Learning and Inference for Artificial Intelligence of Things within the Electrical and Computer Engineering program. The position is funded by the Horizon Europe project PANDORA and the NordForsk project Nordic University Cooperation on Edge Intelligence (NUEI). The selected candidate will work on developing novel techniques for distributed learning and inference for Transformer-based Deep Learning models in the IoT-Edge-Cloud continuum. The fellowship offers opportunities to collaborate with European researchers, participate in summer schools, and contribute to advancements in resource-constraint foundation models.
The PhD project focuses on developing innovative techniques for distributed learning and inference for Transformer-based Deep Learning models in the IoT-Edge-Cloud continuum. The project aims to design algorithms to accelerate distributed learning and inference processes while managing resource utilization, inference accuracy, communication, and energy consumption across the continuum. The selected candidate will collaborate with European researchers, present their work at conferences, and contribute to project activities.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant area
- Background in Deep Learning is required; experience in transformer or Edge Intelligence, or IoT is a plus
- Strong programming skills, especially Python programming
- Excellent English verbal and written skills
- Ability to work well and communicate expert knowledge in an interdisciplinary team
- Background in video processing, deep learning, or wireless communications is a plus
