Gordon and Dolores Sutton Scholarship

Established in memory of Professor Gordon Sutton and alumna Dolores (Dee) Sutton ’78 to provide supplemental financial support to economically disadvantaged students in good academic standing. Gordon worked for many years as a professor of Sociology at the University of Massachusetts and Dee, who worked professionally as a real estate agent, was also a dedicated women’s rights activist, founding the Western Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus and was a longtime member and chair of the Democratic Town Committee. Dee and Gordon were married for 61 years and had three children, of which two became UMass alumni.

Eligibility
In order to be considered for this scholarship, please complete the General Application using the link. This is not an application specific to this scholarship. By completing the General Application, you will automatically be considered for several scholarships awarded by Financial Aid. Students must be intending to enroll for the following semester in order to be considered for Financial Aid scholarships.

Benefits
The scholarship may be awarded to incoming freshman, incoming students who may have attended community college, or current students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Students may continue to receive the scholarship for up to four years as long as they remain in good academic standing.
