Masters and Doctoral Research Positions in Computer Visions, Lund University, Sweden

Expires on: 03/25/2024

Description

The opportunity for PhD and MSc students to engage in cutting-edge research in computer vision, geometry, and machine learning is now available. The focus of the research involves the development of 3D mapping methods, enabling re-localization and navigation in large-scale environments. The project, funded by the Swedish Research Council, aims to extend sparse reconstruction methods to integrate higher-level scene primitives into the reconstruction process. This research has applications in Structure-from-Motion (SfM), Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), and visual localization.

The project focuses on advancing 3D mapping methods, emphasizing sparse reconstruction techniques applied to sets of images to generate a 3D point cloud map. The research extends these methods to incorporate higher-level scene primitives into the reconstruction process. The ultimate goal is to enhance applications such as Structure-from-Motion, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping, and visual localization. The PhD position is part of the “Beyond 3D Points in Sparse Visual Mapping” project, funded by the Swedish Research Council.

Qualifications

  • Seeking talented PhD/MSc students interested in computer vision, geometry, and machine learning.
  • The PhD position requires a focus on mathematics, and applicants will need to undertake math courses during their PhD studies
