- Description:Details PhD and MSc positions are available for Summer/Fall 2024 in the Department of Geosciences at Utah State University to work on problems broadly in earthquake science. The Geosciences department at USU has a growing earthquake science group and research infrastructure.Potential projects, along with the associated faculty, are listed below:
- Experimental studies of earthquake rupture behavior in heterogenous faults (Dr. Srisharan Shreedharan, srisharan.shreedharan@usu.edu)
- Characterizing the mechanics of shallow deformation at subduction zones by integrating laboratory friction experiments and numerical modeling (Shreedharan)
- Exploring shallow/near-surface multi-earthquake cycle deformation along the 2023 Turkey earthquake sequence and southern San Andreas fault system (Dr. Alexis Ault, alexis.ault@usu.edu)
- Characterizing earthquake-induced deformation along the Wasatch fault using laboratory friction experiments, microstructural analyses, and numerical modeling (Ault/Shreedharan)
