Job Summary
- The paramedic will be responsible for assessing patients on the scene, stabilizing variety of trauma and ill patients who due to the range of medical conditions may require urgent treatment and care. The person will be required to understand triage, which is a method of prioritizing injuries based on medical need.
- He or she must ensure the Quality Control and Quality Management System are fully functional in line with ISO standards and international best practices
Key Result Areas (KRA)
The key result areas of this role are:
Medical Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and tending to patients while in transit
- Writing and submitting accurate incident and patient reports.
- Communicating with medical staff and nursing staff at healthcare facilities in order to provide patient information, including medical condition and treatment plan.
- Transporting patients to the emergency department of healthcare facilities, Medevac client and patient from, Seaport, company site, homes and remote areas to Hospitals.
- Uses aseptic technique to dress wounds, apply pressure dressing to bleeding injury and bandaging
- Attend to emergency patients and resolve their medical problem
- Document medical history
- Check for any allergies and current medications
- Obtain height, weight, and vital signs
- Moving patients, taking blood samples, cleaning and bandaging wounds, administering medications and maintaining proper supplies of medical equipment.
Administrative Duties:
- Respond to signal lights, bells or intercom system to resolve patient’s needs.
- Record patient information in computerized logs.
- Order, stock and maintain exam rooms with standard levels of supplies, medications, and equipment.
Maintenance:
- Operate clinical equipment according to equipment procedures including safety and quality control checks.
- Employing specialist equipment, such as ventilators, needle drivers, infusion pump, monitors in ward and Ambulance, Oxygen therapy defibrillators and maintenance always.
Health and Safety:
- Carry out duties and responsibilities in compliance with Lily hospitals’ health and safety policy and statutory regulations.
- Ensure a clean, comfortable and safe environment for patients, clients and members of staff to help reduce infection.
The Person
- Certification in Basic Life Support
- Minimum academic qualification of a Higher National Diploma in Paramedic with vast experience in A&R
- Certification in Advance Cardiac Life Support is also needed.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience in the health sector and Ambulance services
- Knowledge of the Microsoft office package.
- Possess high degree of accuracy and attention to details.
- Outstanding communication (in oral and written), interpersonal and people management skills.
