Description
Explore cutting-edge research at TU Delft! Join our team in revolutionizing drone navigation and communication using light bulbs and AI. This PhD position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a new system that eliminates the need for radios, GPS, or cameras, ensuring safer and more private drone operations.
This PhD position involves designing an innovative system where drones rely on modulated light intensity from light bulbs for communication and navigation. Similar to lighthouses guiding maritime pilots, light bulbs become “air traffic control towers” for drones, operating both outdoors and indoors without conventional navigation tools.
Eligibility:
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Strong knowledge of embedded systems is required, and proficiency in English is essential. Prior drone knowledge is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates must not have resided in the Netherlands for more than 12 months in the past 3 years.
Documents:
Applicants should submit a single PDF including a CV, transcripts of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and optionally a motivation letter. The CV must provide contact information for two references, a list of publications (if any), national university rank (with supporting link), and class rank details (if available).

Interested candidates can apply online before the deadline of April 30, 2024. CV reviews are ongoing, and the vacancy will be closed once a suitable candidate is found. Applications sent via email or post will not be processed.
