The Nanochemistry Lab at Okayama University is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of nanometrology by leveraging the unique properties of inorganic nanomaterials. Our current research focuses on investigating nanoscale properties of biological samples and electronic devices, with an emphasis on the optical responses of nanodiamonds and metallic nanoparticles. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on the development of specialized analytical instruments and methodologies for nanodiamond quantum sensor applications. The scholarship provides financial support of approximately 120,000 Japanese Yen (¥) per month. Additionally, candidates are encouraged to explore additional funding opportunities through fellowships and scholarships offered by the university, which can provide support of up to 200,000 ¥ per month. With the lower cost of living in Okayama compared to major cities like Tokyo or Osaka, PhD students can comfortably pursue their studies without financial stress.

Qualifications 

We are seeking highly motivated candidates with backgrounds in analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, or photonic devices. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in English communication and be open to challenges in computing skills for data analysis and programming
