The University of West London’s School of Biomedical Science, in collaboration with the UCL School of Pharmacy, is offering a fully funded PhD position for UK, EU, and international students. The project focuses on developing 3D-printed collagen-based scaffolds for targeted therapies aimed at addressing nerve impairments.

This cross-disciplinary PhD project involves collaboration between the University of West London and the UCL School of Pharmacy. Under the supervision of Dr. Hanieh Khalili at UWL and Prof. James B. Phillips at UCL, the project aims to develop 3D-printed collagen-based scaffolds for the treatment of peripheral nerve injury (PNI). The project seeks to address the challenge of fabricating precise cell patterning within a three-dimensional structure, crucial for effective nerve regeneration.

Qualification:

  • Applicants must hold an MPharm or MSc degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, or Biological Science.
  • A high standard undergraduate degree at UK 1st class or 2:1 level (or international equivalent) is required.
  • For non-native English speakers, a minimum IELTS Academic English score of 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in all components is necessary.
