Expires on: 05/30/2024
A fully-funded PhD studentship in Computer Science, focusing on AI and Machine Learning Explainability, is available at Newcastle University. The successful applicant will receive 100% coverage of home fees and a minimum tax-free annual living allowance of £18,622 (2023-24 UKRI rate).
The project aims to create explainable systems for machine learning algorithms, making it easier for human users to interpret and understand the decisions made by these algorithms. The research will focus on visualization techniques to open the black box of machine learning models and understand their training and predictions. Applicants will have the opportunity to shape the project within this domain and explore areas such as learning dynamics and feature interaction in large-scale neural networks using novel visualization approaches.
Eligibility:
- Minimum 2:1 Honours degree or international equivalent in a relevant subject to the proposed PhD project (computer science).
- Applicants whose first language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in all sub-skills.
Documents:
- Covering letter and CV
- Degree transcripts and certificates
- English language qualification (if applicable)
