The Chao’s Viromics Laboratory at the Institute for Advanced Study, Shenzhen University (IAS), is seeking 3 Postdoctoral Scientists to conduct cutting-edge research in viromics. The laboratory offers a highly interdisciplinary environment, focusing on deep-sea hydrothermal ecosystems, coastal wetlands, and freshwater lakes. Collaborative opportunities with other labs at IAS, Shenzhen University, and beyond are available, with specific emphasis on marine and freshwater systems.
The selected candidates will conduct research in viromics, focusing on deep-sea hydrothermal ecosystems, coastal wetlands, and freshwater lakes. Responsibilities include data analysis, experimental work, collaboration with other team members, and publishing high-quality research papers.
Qualifications
- Applicants with backgrounds in bioinformatics, metagenomics, viromics, second/third-generation sequencing analysis, or other omics or evolutionary (DNA, RNA, etc.) analysis are welcome.
- Familiarity with command-line and R language coding is preferred, and candidates who can independently write code are prioritized.
- Experimental backgrounds should include experience in microbial molecular ecology, molecular biology, microbial/viral molecular genetic manipulation, and preparation of sequencing libraries.
- Candidates with both computational and experimental backgrounds are preferred.
- Ability to learn and master new knowledge and technologies.
- Strong English reading and writing skills.
