Join our dynamic research team at the University Medical Center Groningen, The Netherlands, as a highly motivated Postdoc in Pathogen Genomics and Antimicrobial Resistance. Contribute to cutting-edge solutions for the diagnosis and management of bloodstream infections (BSI) within the Horizon Europe-funded DRAIGON consortium.

As a Postdoc, you will:

  • Design patient inclusion criteria and determine outcome parameters for data collection
  • Conduct comparative analysis of AMR prediction using short-read and long-read sequencing technologies
  • Develop and standardize an end-to-end workflow for profiling pathogens and detecting AMR from pre-enriched cultures
  • Collect and integrate clinical data alongside standard-of-care diagnostics and sequencing data
  • Supervise the PhD student(s) recruited to the project
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, technicians, and international partners in an interdisciplinary group

Eligibility

  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, or a related field
  • Demonstrable experience or a strong interest in molecular microbiology, laboratory techniques, and next-generation sequencing
  • Collaborative spirit to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and with clinical partners
  • Experience in experimental design, bioinformatics, and data analysis
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
