Job Description

Touton TNL is seeking a highly motivated Cocoa sustainability coordinator to support and drive the development of the Group’s sustainability agenda for cocoa in Nigeria.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Touton Nigeria Operations manager and in close collaboration with the Cocoa sustainability director.

Responsibilities:

Conduct audit: perform on-site and off-site audits of farmer groups and farms, and other organizations to evaluate their compliance with cocoa sustainability standards (eg. Rainforest Alliance) and tailored programs as well as in line with regulations such as EUDR.

Documentation review: scrutinize documentation, records and reports to ensure that sustainability practices and compliance measures are well understood.

Capacity building: support farmer groups and provide guidance on sustainability practices and support on the development of improvement plan.

Training and guidance: provide regular training to enhance understanding of sustainability and compliance.

Monitoring and evaluation: ensure farmer groups have all the necessary tools to gather the required data. Integrate data from farmer groups to regularly follow the progress and compliance.

Data analysis: analyze regularly the data related to traceability, environmental, social and economic sustainability activities to ensure that the organizations meet the required standard. Provide support for corrections and improvement in the process.

Cultivate positive relationships locally with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners to facilitate collaboration and the continuous improvement of sustainability practices.

Quality assurance: ensure the quality of the audit process by following established protocols, standards, and ethical guidelines.

Preferred Experience

Educational Background: a bachelorâs or advanced degree in agriculture, science, sustainability, or a related field.

At least 3 yearsâ experience in certification such as Rainforest Alliance and other sustainability programs and standards.

Good experience in traceability of commodities, preferably cocoa.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Good data management skills

You are comfortable with reporting tools like power Bi, excel, power point, gis data.

Willingness to travel for audit and capacity building.
