  • Description:Description In this project, advanced microstructural and physico-chemical analytical methods will be applied to precisely characterise electrode materials and cell components of rechargeable alkaline zinc-manganese dioxide (ZMB) batteries chemically and structurally in 2D and 3D to advance the optimisation of ZMBs. In detail, you will work on the following sub-aspects:
    •  Carrying out analytical investigations on cell components of rechargeable alkaline zinc-manganese dioxide batteries by means of high-resolution secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy with focused ion beam (FIB-REM) and subsequent data evaluationConducting national and international research visits and participation in project meetings and national and international scientific conferencesPublication of results in scientific journals
  • Requirements 
    • Completed Master‘s or equivalent university degree in chemistry, physics or materials science with at least the grade “good”Knowledge of surface analysis, electrochemistry and interfacial chemistry is desirableGood English language skills and the will to carry out conference and measurement trips (also abroad)Intensive scientific exchange with the scientists from the project network is requiredVery well-developed communication skills and an interdisciplinary, open mindsetVery good skills of expression and writing style regarding scientific publishing
