Tomato Jos is a private equity-backed, fast-growing social enterprise located in Kaduna, Nigeria, that believes in the power of local production for local consumption. Our company aims to supply 10% of the processed tomato market in Nigeria within the next 5 years. We source tomatoes from smallholder farmers within our network and make high-quality branded consumer products for Nigeria and West Africa. We operate a 500Ha commercial farm, run a successful smallholder program with over 500 farmers, and have a tomato processing facility.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Field Sales Manager
Locations: Lagos and Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Key Distribution partner management: Monitor and drive Sales and distribution of TJ’s products within the Southwest territory (focus on Lagos & Ibadan) through our Key distribution partner.
  • Collaborate with our Key Distribution partners’ sales team to manage all activities within assigned territory to achieve optimum coverage and distribution of TJ’s products in all the relevant outlets in an efficient & effective way, to ensure market share growth.
  • Achieve sales drivers objectives in assigned territory- Distribution, Quality, Visibility, Pricing, Promotion, Persuasion.
  • Managing all sales channels effectively, efficiently, and profitably.
  • Gather market intelligence and information about competitors and share with the marketing team to enable coordinated efforts to gain market share and meet targets.
  • Ensure adequate and prompt execution and reporting of Sales and marketing activities in assigned territory as and when due.
  • Achieve prompt reconciliation of promotions, Measuring & Evaluation (M&E) & promo impact assessments.
  • Build and manage the Secondary sales team.
  • Develop the capability of Sales Representatives through regular training, guidance, coaching & accompaniments, and spot & back checks.
  • Motivate Sales Representatives to achieve sales quotas and evaluate their performance regularly.
  • Responsible for total business target achievement in the assigned territory (primary & secondary sales, coverage, Call rate, productivity, Product Mix, NPD).
  • Recruit Distributors and ensure regular review of Joint Business Plans for business growth and sustainability through appropriate investment.
  • Recruit and manage sub-distributors and wholesalers to achieve sales targets in assigned territory.

Qualifications / Experiences

  • B.Sc / HND in Business Administration/Management, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 4 years experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities in the FMCG industry.
  • Proven ability to manage teams.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Cautiously optimistic, personable, and resolute.
  • Excellent track record in consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets & KPIs.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office, Google Suite, and meeting tools.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and people management skills.

Additional qualifications and experience that will set you apart:

  • Ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret sales data.
  • Conversant with the agricultural value chain.
  • Mobile and possesses a valid Driver’s license.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative.
  • A good team player with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in Hausa will be an added advantage.

Remuneration
Salary is commensurate to experience within the range of industry standards. A communication allowance, pension, and health insurance are included, and an annual performance-based bonus may be awarded at the discretion of the executive management team.
