Expires on: 05/01/2024

Description

The Vrije Universiteit Brussel invites applications for a fully funded Ph.D. position in Photonics/Electrical Engineering. The successful candidate will join the Brussels Photonics (B-PHOT) research group to work on the LADYBIRD project, funded by the Research Foundation of Flanders (FWO). This interdisciplinary project aims to explore laser dynamics-based approaches for fiber sensing and apply them to detect ultrasonic guided waves. The candidate will work on the construction of experimental setups, exploration of sensing strategies, collaboration with fellow researchers, and contribute to breakthrough advancements in photonics and crack detection technology.

The selected candidate will join the Brussels Photonics (B-PHOT) research group at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) to work on the LADYBIRD project. Responsibilities include constructing experimental setups, exploring fiber sensing strategies utilizing laser dynamics, benchmarking techniques, and collaborating with fellow researchers to optimize fiber sensor architectures. The candidate will contribute to advancing crack detection technology and photonics research in a multidisciplinary setting.
