Job Description: Mechanical and Electrical Engineer
Ensure all Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) work are completed within approved budget, quality and agreed timeline and according to owner’s requirements. Also, to ensure design and construction complies with local planning and design guidelines and safety
requirement.
Location: Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria
Job responsibilities
- M&E services and work planning in accordance with project timeline and budget
- M&E project planning activities to ensure that the project design, implementation, and completion are co-ordinate to meet overall timelines and the development objectives.
- Co-ordinate with appointed consultants to prepare, review design & cost plan for the project.
- Liaise and obtain permits and licenses from appropriate local authorities to ensure all project development works comply with local regulations and laws.
- Develop design and engineering solutions of mechanical and cleanroom related HVAC systems.
- Review of M&E infrastructure masterplan
- Prepare M&E budgets for ensuring effective cost controls during all project phases.
- Report and update on planning and progress of M&E work
- Evaluating M&E tenders received
- Manage, monitor, and control M&E works, cost, and project schedules.
- Prepare and review tender drawings and specifications for all projects.
- Ensure proper documentation of all reports on design, project progress, plans, budgets etc.
- Resolve and/or escalate to the CEO/General Manager any unexpected technical difficulties that may arise during the construction stage.
- Participate in weekly and monthly project progress meeting and update progress report.
- Co-ordinate M&E work inspection and taking and handing over of all completed projects.
- Make periodic checks on contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and drawings, etc.
- Monitor and observe health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) rules at the project site.
- Help to keep and maintain documents for auditing.
- Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of design, construction and installation of infrastructures works, buildings, facilities, etc.
- Experience working in a multiple project environment.
- Knowledge and skill in project management tools, reporting, processes, and documentation
- Knowledge of HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environmental) standards and procedures
- Must be self-driven and motivated to meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity, resourcefulness and result-oriented
- Strong initiatives with passion and drive to succeed.
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications, AutoCAD and planning/scheduling programs
- A recognized degree to practice Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of M&E supervision experience within the construction or building services industry with Contractor or Developer company and with some overseas experience.
- Must be able to plan and implement M&E projects from inception to completion.
- Demonstrated experience in related M&E projects and power tun-on, etc. and knowledge on Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) services.
- Familiarity with architectural, contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, and supplier sources is necessary.
- Familiar with design, local Code of Practices, Building and Fire Safety Regulations
- Process good communication and interpersonal skills
