Media Research Officer


This role is responsible for the general quantitative and qualitative research to produce media evaluation reports, as well as report on media consumption habits of our target audiences, with a view to streamlining our communications efforts for effectiveness and impact.

Research & Data Mining
Conduct general research to produce media evaluation reports.
Use various social media, IT and other consumer metrics tools to analyze marketing campaign performance and research results
Observe and examine the effectiveness of media campaigns
Critically examine useful details on event/service coverage, and provide research-based details about when and where to advertise
Monitor regional and international impact of promoted TEC campaigns online
Research and analyze relevant print, online broadcast and social media coverage for TEC events/services/initiatives
Monitor the overall media performance of TEC (using internal and external benchmarks)

Audience Profiling & Targeting

Make informed recommendations for audiences to target for events, services, and ministry initiatives
Coordinate audience feedback processes for events, services, and ministry initiatives
Coordinate brainstorming and ideation sessions to fine tune audiences targeting for new TEC Expressions, initiatives and small groups.

Talent Management and Organizational Development

Work closely with the Head of HR to design, implement, and coordinate HR programs.
Works in partnership with the operational management teams to identify opportunities and areas of improvement to support improved organisational and people performance in line with business needs.

Report Writing

Write well-organized reports
Present ministry-specific reports based on data gathered
Develop engagement reporting templates for audiences and participants at services/events/initiatives

Copywriting / Community Building

Write, edit and publish engaging posts for various social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Linkedin
Optimize social media posts (language, tone, message) based on our target audience’s behaviors
Coordinate with internal teams to create advertising posts from the position of data gathered (e.g. for events, open roles and product releases)
Respond to questions and comments on our social media pages in a timely and accurate manner

Skills and Knowledge
Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills

• A degree in marketing, journalism, communications, psychology, business studies, media studies or social media management.
• Expert understanding of SEO keyword research and Google analytics
Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years)
• Previous work in an advertising agency, media/research agency or verifiable freelance experience
• A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in media analytics and research (online or mainstream media)
• Paid or voluntary work experience with any media evaluation organization or withing marketing/PR will be of advantage
