This fully funded PhD position offers the opportunity to delve into the synthesis and characterization of open-shell molecular fragments of graphene, pushing the boundaries of organic synthesis, materials science, and supramolecular chemistry.
As a PhD student in Synthetic Organic Materials, you will be responsible for designing, synthesizing, and characterizing open-shell molecular fragments of graphene, with a focus on investigating their properties and π-radical reactivity to develop new graphene-based materials. Qualification:
- Completed (or soon to be completed) Master’s degree in chemistry (MSc or equivalent)
- Outstanding academic record with excellent grades and graduation with honors
- Experience in synthetic organic laboratory work, including microscale techniques and spectroscopic analysis
- Proficiency in designing and planning complex synthetic sequences
- Excellent English language skills (written and oral); German language proficiency is a plus but not mandatory
- Experience with studying abroad (e.g., Erasmus, etc.) is welcome
