Fordham University, a Jesuit institution in New York, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to the NSF-funded project “Genomic basis of ecosystem adaptation in rice.” This position, based at the Rose Hill campus in the Department of Biological Sciences, involves collaborative research with Michael Purugganan at New York University (NYU) and Amelia Henry at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). The successful candidate will conduct population and evolutionary genomic analyses of rice varieties under different conditions, contributing to understanding ecosystem adaptation. Responsibilities 

  • Conduct data analysis, visualization, and interpretation, focusing on genomic and phenotypic data related to rice ecosystems
  • Assist in writing and preparing manuscripts for publication
  •  Manage lab operations and maintain a safe and productive environment
  • Collaborate with a team of researchers across institutions
  • Guide and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research projects

Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in ecology, evolution, genetics, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of ecology, evolution, and genetics, particularly in evolutionary ecology
  • Skills in genomic and bioinformatics analysis, biological statistics, and proficiency in R and Python programming
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  •  Strong problem-solving abilities
